Craving Color

HOORAY! It's the last week of January and while summer's opulence is still months away, I'm sure glad I have my photos. I'm referring to them a lot right now, not just to feed my craving for color but to ponder design ideas too.

Below are some of my favorites from last July.

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Coming Up Roses')

Monarda didyma 'Raspberry Wine'

Clematis 'Ville de Lyon'

Hydrangea 'Cityline Paris' and variegated Comfrey
(Symtyphum x uplandicum 'Axminster Gold')

Zip

Clematis viticella 'Polish Spirit'

Hollyhocks

Thank you to each of you for your sweet comments.
They mean the world to me.

  2. Love the cat walking down the beautiful path. These great photos remind me how eager for Spring I am also. I sit out on the barren deck looking at blah and imagining what I'm going to plant in all those empty pots. I have bought some seeds I'm going to try to get a head start on warm days.

  4. Ah, I needed that, too! Thanks! Zip is such a cutie. That 'Raspberry Wine' Monarda is something special. But most of all, I'm impressed with all your fabulous paths and walkways! Lovely.

  5. Spring is at least 6 weeks away for us and I want it to start right now! Everything looks gorgeous. Finding that comfrey here is almost impossible.

  6. Your summery post made me want to rush outside, but of course it is both dark, and with very little color right now. I loved the photo of Zip skulking down the path. My version of him is an orange tabby. He is almost always up to no good, but I still love him! :)

  8. That "Polish Spirit" is stunning! Is it like Jackmanii? In the sense of its hardiness? I adore that color.
Now, I'm wondering Gracie, we had temps in the high sixties, low seventies today...unbelievable! But I know there was fog in the central valley around Salem. Were you socked in or did the sun shine for you today and over the weekend?

  13. Well if this doesn't make one long for summer, I don't know what would. The clematis are so dang pretty. And you've reminded me that I need that comfrey in my life.
